Easy Print-Mixing: Stripes & Polka Dots

Blazer: Maurices-old / Blouse: Old Navy / Khakis: Gap-old similar / Boots: a.n.a for JCPenney (hand-me-downs)

I picked out this polka dot blouse for Christmas to wear with this fair isle sweater, also a Christmas present.  Even though I selected it to wear with a specific item, I also knew I could easily take it from winter to spring, and wear it several different ways, so imagine my delight when I was rummaging through my closet one day and came across this blazer.  I immediately smiled at my “aha” moment and made a mental note that these two items would go perfectly together!

It was super easy to mix these two patterns, polka dots and stripes, because they are the exact same color scheme and the polka dots are small enough to blend really well with the stripes.  Also, the rest of my outfit is pretty low-key with a simple pair of khakis and boots.

A couple more easy ideas if you’re looking for ways to mix up the printed items in your closet is to wear a graphic tee under a printed blazer or cardigan, or it can even be as simple as wearing a printed top with an unexpected color.  I put together a little inspiration gallery that might help you think about what you already have in your closet that you could try wearing together.  How would you pair any of these options?
