This dress makes me want to go to Mexico and listen to a mariachi band while sipping margaritas!  I’m pretty sure it was made to wear to a fiesta.  The denim takes on such a fun and festive spin with the bright, multi-colored embroidery and cute cap sleeves.

It is also so comfortable!  Even more so without the belt, which basically turns it into a really full short mumu!  And it has pockets.  I mean, enough said, right?

This dress is definitely going with me on my next beach vacation, but with neon yellow sandals rather than heels.  Said vacation is about 3 1/2 months away, but it never hurts to start thinking ahead;)

Have a great Monday!  If you need me, I’ll be daydreaming about white sand beaches and sombreros.  Ole!

3-in-1

1dress3waysThere’s nothing I love more than coming up with multiple ways to wear my favorite items.  That’s why I thought it would be fun to share a post where I did just that-create a look for three different occasions with one dress.

Church  churchdress4bownecklaceThis first look I put together for church. I love the matchy-matchiness of the sparkly necklace with this dress. They really look like they were made for each other!  I decided to go all in with the blue accessories, from my sunglasses all the way down to my feet.churchdress2bluewedgeheelschurchdress1I’ve had these blue wedge sandals for years and don’t wear them a whole lot anymore, so I couldn’t resist the opportunity.blueshades

Workworkdress2workheelsFor my work look, I had to add a cardigan to adhere to our “no tanks allowed” dress code.  I chose to play up the blue in the dress again by covering up with this striped cardigan, and I also really like the way the patterns compliment each other. workdressaccessoriesworkdressI thought the blue sweater and blue heels might be a little over the top, so I switched it up with coordinating camel belt and heels instead.

Play  casualwithbluesandalscasualdressandturquoiseThis version is perfect for a day of shopping or a summer afternoon date.  I toned down the accessories with a simple turquoise and gold necklace and bracelet.  A small crossbody purse is always my top choice for an afternoon out or day on the go.coralcasualdresscasualdress2casualdressgoldpurse

I’ll let you in on a little secret…on a lot of Mondays, you will find me in the same outfit I wore to church the day prior.  It eases a little of the Monday stress if I have something ready that I already know works!

Care to share any of your 3-in-1 tips?  Which version of mine is your favorite?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

When I decided to purchase this skirt from White Plum, I envisioned wearing it with bright pink or my neon yellow heels, but it’s actually more green than yellow, and the pink just didn’t feel quite right.

I finally pulled this old neutral blouse out of the closet in a last ditch effort to make something work, and I was surprisingly pleased!  I think it works because it allows the boldness of the skirt to speak for itself.  The necklace was just a happy accident that brought it all together perfectly.

May I also add that this skirt style would look great on anyone!  I love the definition of the high waistline coupled with the roominess below.  Whether you go with a bold print or a solid color, the shape is definitely universally flattering, and I would like to add a few more to my collection, starting with the toucans below!  Which one would you pick?

According to the free online Merrian-Webster Dicionary to enchant means “to attract and hold the attention of (someone) by being interesting, pretty, etc.; to put a magic spell on (someone or something).”  That is exactly how I feel about this dress!

There is so much to it to be attracted to, starting with the chambray bodice with delicate embroidery surrounded by lace.  The chambray back in itself is such an interesting and flattering detail.

Follow that by the red skirt that flows down into a colorful stand-out design around the hem.  So beautiful!  The best part is I got it for less than $20 with an awesome discount code from White Plum!

It’s hard to believe today is the last day of July, and fall will be here before we know it, but the great thing about maxi dresses is that they transition so easily with the season by simply adding a jean jacket and replacing sandals with ankle boots.

Dress: White Plum (last year) similar, similar / Heels: Nine West via Style Encore nearly exact here / Purse: Guess, secondhand / Bracelets: The Limited / Watch: Fossil, old similar

Even though I have closets full of bright and colorful summer wear, sometimes it feels good to simplify and pull out a classic black and white look.  Whether it’s in the form of a dress or simple black pants and a white blouse, in bold black and white stripes or a dainty pattern, it’s a combination that always looks polished and will never, ever go out of style.

The great thing about black and white is that you can leave it pure or choose any colorful accessory, a belt, a clutch, or simply a bright nail polish to add your own creative mark.

I opted for red peep-toes and earrings and rosy lips, and I sang Kellie Pickler’s “Red High Heels” in my head all day.  How’s that for classic?

Let’s Take a Tour

Hello lovelies! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Mine was great because my Tyson came home. He had been in Guatemala since last Saturday, and I missed him terribly! (Read about the mission we are part of here)

tribaldressandpinkshoesbluewhitetribaldresstribalbuttondownandhatbluetribalbuttondownI didn’t make the trip this year, but hearing him talk about the children, his time in Antigua, and a day trip to the ocean certainly made me regret it. I must have had the streets of Antigua on my mind when I wore this because it’s perfect for a day of touring the cobblestone streets.buttondowndressandhatbuttondowndressPug approved.tribalbuttondown

The light-weight material of this dress and a sun-blocking hat are perfect for a hot day of strolling the streets of some exotic location.  Unfortunately, I was only in my back yard when I took these photos, and the only touring I did was to work and back (sans hat), but this cute little number will definitely be going with me on my next vacation!  White Plum calls this the Belizean Breeze Day Dress.  I think a day in Belize would do just fine;)

LBD

casualLBDblueleopardtoteLBDblackdress1Dress, old / Bag: Marshall’s / Shoes: Sole Society exact here, similar, love ’em in gold, and striped / Wrap Bracelets: White Plum

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear LBD (little black dress)?  My first thought is usually special date night or celebration, but I’m putting a more casual spin on my LBD.

For me, one who prefers dresses over anything else, this is the perfect little outfit for a busy day at the office or running weekend errands.  I ordered these espadrille flats a few weeks back from Sole Society when they were having the sale I mentioned here, and they are sooo comfortable.  Maybe I’m getting old because I can’t get enough of flats right now!

Actually, I wore this exact outfit last Friday for a few hours at work and then up to Indianapolis.  Tyson and I had a late lunch, hit up Starbuck’s and then went to the Dave Matthews concert in Noblesville. Before the concert, I switched into my suede booties, and by the end of the night, I was so wishing I had my flats on.  Although my feet could have been so sore because I was a dancing machine!  That sounds way better than blaming it on age, agreed?
