How could I not feel lucky wearing a blouse covered in horseshoes?  When I first spotted this top, I was instantly crazy about the print, and the gold hardware and loose flowy fit just made me love it even more!

I styled it a couple different ways-The first for work with a pair of black skinny jeans, a delicate necklace, and gold wedge heels.  For more causal wear, I switched into shorts, and gave it a slightly more boho effect with a chunkier metallic necklace and gold sandals.

I chose turquoise and red accessories to give a little color pop against the black and white.

Unfortunately, this top is sold out on White Plum, and my luck ended when I tried to find one like it.  I searched the world wide web high and low for a horseshoe print blouse to no avail.  The closest I could find was covered in horses, which is cool too because I quite love horses.  Horses not your thing?  How about birds, dogs, elephants, or zebras?  I found plenty of those (see links above).  They may not bring you quite as much luck, but they sure will look pretty cute!

Which one of these looks do you like better?  How would you wear one of these printed blouses?

Have a great weekend, and Happy Creating!

How often do you create an outfit that starts with the shoes?  Such was the case with this little red and leopard number.  I absolutely love these heels, but I have literally 2 tops that match them, so they don’t get worn very often:(  When I bought them, I must not have read the memo yet that says only buy if you can think of 5 outfits to wear them with, or some such nonsense like that…

Seriously, though, that’s a good rule to shop by, but sometimes a girl just want what she wants.  Know what I’m sayin’?

If you’re in the market for some ruby slippers of your own, I’ve linked up all, shapes, styles and price points below for your browsing pleasure.  Have a great weekend girlies!

Oh, P.S.  If you got any styling tips for me and my red high heels, I’d love to hear them:)

The Perfect Fit

What a difference a week makes.  These outfit photos were taken last Friday, and this week I’m pretty sure I would have been risking frost bite had I attempted any outdoor pics!  I heard on the radio on my way home from work yesterday that in Homer, Alaska it was 48 degrees.  I can honestly say it was the first time I ever wished I was in Alaska!

Anyway, some details on today’s look.  A couple of months ago I went on the hunt for the perfect pair of dark wash skinny jeans.  I hadn’t bought a new pair for a couple years, and the ones I was wearing weren’t really the greatest quality.  I lucked into these from American Eagle and could not be more pleased.  I’m pretty sure I hadn’t tried on their jeans since I was in high school because the fit never felt quite right for my body style, so I gave up on the brand.  I’m really glad I finally gave them another chance! (and that my body seems to be more proportionate??)

What I especially like about these is the length.  They hit right at my ankle, which means they’re perfect for flats, heels, or sandals, a no-fuss cuff a la today’s style, or with knee-high boots where no one would know they’re a little on the short side;)

What is your favorite denim brand and style?  Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by new duds from a long-forgotten brand?

Lovely Layers

Blazer: Old Navy, this fall / Lace Top: White Plum (no longer available) / Cross Necklace: Maurices, last winter / Knot Necklace: gift, similar / Bracelet: Maurices, last winter / Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar, last winter, similar / Heels: Old Navy, this fall / Purse: Fossil via TJ Maxx, last winter, similar wallet, shopper tote, crossbody, clutch

I wore this a couple weeks ago for casual Friday at work.  Even though I get to wear jeans to work sometimes, I still enjoy dressing them up a little, and there’s no easier way than a blazer, a dressy top, and heels.

I love the lace and chiffon layers of this top.  I added a little sparkle with my necklaces, but the delicate detailing is accessory enough if one wanted to keep that the main focus.  Actually, my longer necklace kept getting caught in the lace; I think that’s why the shirt is bunched up at the bottom in the photos.  It’s a wonder I made it through the day without tearing it!

I’ve also worn this top with darker jeans (which I think I like better) and flats (leopard print, natch).  Too bad today is Monday and not casual Friday so I could wear it all over again…

Fall Prep

I do believe this has been the prettiest fall southern Indiana has seen in a few years.  Seeing the trees turn slowly from green to vivid shades of orange, yellow, and red has been amazing.  I have reminded myself daily to pay attention and enjoy the beautiful transition.  Even on my 5-minute drive to work, there’s been one tree in particular that’s brought a smile to my face every time I’ve passed it:)

I have loved watching the colors so much that last week they inspired me to this preppy fall outfit.  Deep reds and oranges are certainly fall staples, and I’ve been waiting for just the right time to mix and match this plaid flannel and striped sweater!  Knee-high leather boots were the perfect finishing touch for a perfectly sunny and cool fall day.

Have you been as amazed by the beauty of this fall as much as I have?  It won’t last much longer, so don’t forget to take a little time to enjoy…Have a great week, and thanks for reading!

Well, hello my old leopard-printed, calf-haired friends.  I’ve missed you!

When I wore this for date night the other night, Tyson just shook his head and said the black, brown, and blue together were all a bit much for him.  I just shook my head back at him and said, “Leopard is a neutral. Duh.”

This Fossil handbag (see the story of how it came to be mine here) will be on my hip for the next 6 months, and adding matching leopard booties and a couple pieces of bling took simple jeans and a sweater up a a couple notches, no?  Check out the gallery below for a bajillion more leopard options.  You can click on the picture for details;)

A Nautical Take

In order to get the full effect of today’s post, you must first imagine with me that I am not surrounded by brown fields and bare trees; rather, I’m on a boat sailing aqua ocean waters or strolling along a beach boardwalk:)

Earrings: Old Navy, this winter almost exact / Scarf: Wal-Mart, recent / Sweater: Old Navy, this winter springier version / Striped Shirt: Old Navy, this winter similar, great option, / Jeans: Old Navy, old / Flats: Old Navy, old these are snazzy/ Purse: Dooney & Bourke via TJ Maxx, old splurge

The Nautical fashion trend is a classic that comes back year after year around this time, and 2014 is no exception.  I did a little shopping Saturday at Old Navy and the racks were full of Nautical-themed apparel, mainly anchor prints and stripes, that I just couldn’t pass up.  I probably went a little overboard (HA!  no pun intended).

Today’s look, though, was actually taken a couple weeks ago and worn to work on casual Friday, and I just gave the stripes my own nautical spin with neon yellow accents in a scarf and knotted earrings.  My preferred version of this outfit would be with white shorts instead of jeans and silver sandals instead of flats…And a real ocean in the background, of course!

Have you ever tried your own version of nautical look?  Here are just a few of the items I saw featured on Saturday.  I can’t wait to share my top picks with you in the coming weeks!  Caveat-not to be worn all together;)
