Hello, friends! I’m up north with my beloved visiting family this week. We’re driving into Chicago today for some shopping and yummy eats, and my aunt and I are also going to see the Blue Man Group! Have you ever seen a show? I hear they’re pretty entertaining, so I’m really looking forward to it.
I wanted to share a simple red, white, and (mostly) blue look in honor of upcoming Independence Day. This skirt is an old favorite of mine. I don’t have a big selection of red, but the subtle red and blue embroidery make it perfect for an understated 4th of July look.
We’ll be heading home on Saturday, so I hope to have some time to enjoy the pool, weather pending, and take in the local fireworks show. What will you be doing for the 4th? Whatever your plans, have fun, and be safe out there!
Check out some more of my favorite red, white, and blue picks below. I’m loving the High Waist Nautical Shorts and the Chambray Romper, perfect for the 4th and beyond!

Alas, another Monday is upon us, but I do hope you enjoyed the beautiful Easter weekend. I always look forward to bringing out my Sunday best for Easter celebration. Most years I shop for a new dress, but since we started attending a new church when we moved, I decided to wear the same dress as last year (first seen here, and then again here).
The blue and nude color combination and the beautiful lace overlay make this one of my absolute favorite dresses, so I certainly had no problem wearing it again. Adding the floral blazer and statement necklace were new ideas that made me feel like I was wearing it for the first time!
If you looked back at my past styles, which one is your favorite?

P.S. Did anyone notice I got photobombed in one of the pictures above?? Silly doggy:)
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I rounded up a few of my favorite looks. Click on your favorite pieces for details, and keep scrolling to read about the night I have planned, but be warned…You might be jealous;)
Unfortunately, my beloved will be away all next week and won’t be home until very, very late on Valentine’s Night, so I won’t be going out looking all red hot or getting dolled up for a romantic date. Actually, as of now, I’m planning on having a little “me” time and pampering myself with a nice bath, followed by a mani/pedi, and then cuddling up in my jammies with a good book until his return. I told you you’d be jealous. So it’s not really the Valentine’s Day I would have chosen, but to look on the bright side, absence makes the heart grown fonder;)
What are your plans for celebrating this crazy little thing called love? Will you be wearing anything similar to today’s favorites?
Happy Halloween! Naturally, I’m bringing you a little black and orange combo in today’s ensemble. Yes, it is possible to wear the two together without looking like a giant jack-o-lantern. However, if that’s the look you’re going for to show your holiday spirit, more power to ya!
How many of you are trick-or-treating tonight or have kiddos that will be out? I’ve got lots of chocolate ready for any little goblins or ghouls that show up at my door. I’m actually pretty excited about it! Coming from the country with nary a trick-or-treater to be seen to the city streets that are sure to be bustling with activity will be a whole new experience:) Wish me luck, and everyone have a safe and fantastic weekend!

The 4th of July is just over a week away, and I can’t wait to celebrate! I don’t know exactly what my plans are yet, but whatever I do, I’ll be donning some red, white, and blue in honor of Independence day and the freedoms I’m blessed to enjoy as an American. Watching fireworks light up the night sky with patriotic music playing in the background always brings tears to my eyes.
If you plan on dressing for the occasion as well, I’ve found a ton of cute, affordable options for you to browse. From headbands to flip flops, and everything in between, they’re all under $20!

In this post, I jokingly said I had a lace dress I was saving to wear to the next royal wedding;) I decided my invitation was taking too long, so I wore it for an even bigger celebration, Easter Sunday!
Not only is this a beautiful church dress, but I could also see myself wearing it to the Kentucky Derby with a wide-brimmed hat…Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it this year (actually, I’ve never been) because I will be in Jamaica(!), but it will also be perfect for graduations and weddings.
This dress is one of those classic pieces that, if well taken care of, can be worn again and again for years to come, and it’s lovely lace overlay and oh-so-ladylike belt means you can keep the accessories to a minimum. Here are some great options I found (all under $50) ranging from classic black and nude to vibrant green. Would you invest in any of these lace dresses for your summer celebrations?

Saturday night, a crew of wonderful fellas from church hosted a delicious Valentine dinner. Since dearest Mother Nature dropped a few inches of snow on us on Valentine’s Day, and Tyson and I celebrated with a romantic dinner at home, I was ready to get all dolled up and get out of the house.
This ensemble really came out of nowhere. I had planned on wearing something else all day, but then when I went to pull it out of the closet, I spotted the pink dress and thought why not? It’s a recent hand-me-down that I hadn’t even tried on, so I didn’t know beforehand that it was this short. After I was completely dressed, I kept debating between the leggings or putting on black skinny jeans, but in the end I stuck with the leggings.
A jacket or sweater of some sort was necessary because the dress is sleeveless and has a cutout in the back. I knew this one, another hand-me-down, would look great against the pink, and I also like the fitted, shorter style of it to balance out the loose bottom of the dress.
My blingy booties finished out my Glam Date Night look, and I got a lot of compliments on them:)
This was a really fun and girly outfit to put together, and I enjoyed thinking outside the box, getting creative, and stepping out of my wardrobe comfort zone a bit. What are your requirements for a glam date night look? Do you stick to one type of look or push the envelope sometimes?
