According to the free online Merrian-Webster Dicionary to enchant means “to attract and hold the attention of (someone) by being interesting, pretty, etc.; to put a magic spell on (someone or something).”  That is exactly how I feel about this dress!

There is so much to it to be attracted to, starting with the chambray bodice with delicate embroidery surrounded by lace.  The chambray back in itself is such an interesting and flattering detail.

Follow that by the red skirt that flows down into a colorful stand-out design around the hem.  So beautiful!  The best part is I got it for less than $20 with an awesome discount code from White Plum!

It’s hard to believe today is the last day of July, and fall will be here before we know it, but the great thing about maxi dresses is that they transition so easily with the season by simply adding a jean jacket and replacing sandals with ankle boots.

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’ve had my fill of snow and cold! I don’t really even mind a good snow, but when the temps stay so frigid that it won’t go away, that’s when we have a problem.

My solution: Head to the islands, mon!  Tyson and I are flying out Saturday morning for Jamaica and not looking back.  I’ll be off the grid next week, but stay tuned tomorrow for my first How-To post on packing a single carry-on for a week-long vacay!

Happy Hump Day, friends!

Worth the Effort Sweatshirt

Hello, all!  I do hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I quite enjoyed mine, which consisted of catching up with some old friends, enjoying time with family and the celebration of my daddy’s birthday, and, of course, watching the big Superbowl game.  How about that Katy Perry?!

I was also thrilled to turn the page on the calendar; hello February!  You know what they say the best thing about January is?  When it’s over!  I don’t know who “they” is, but I shall wholeheartedly agree:)  While I am ever so grateful that this January doesn’t even compare to the hellacious conditions we faced last year, I am happily marking one month of winter gone which means one month closer to SPRING!

In the meantime, I’m still trying to stay warm and look like I put a little effort into getting dressed.  This men’s sweatshirt I picked up on clearance makes it pretty easy (I almost grabbed this one too).  I love the idea of sweatshirts, but since I dress for work the majority of the time, I tend to forget it would be nice to have a few more.  Layering my favorite chambray shirt underneath (I told you I wear it under everything) and adding a few simple gold accessories gives it some polish and makes it feel more “me”.

Graphic sweatshirts are super popular right now, and I put together a gallery of some that caught my eye, all under $20.  I included the basics that can be dressed up with a statement necklace, a few with prints that don’t need any extras, and some with cheeky sayings that you can accessorize or let the sweatshirt speak for itself.  What’s your favorite way to wear a sweatshirt?

Neutral Territory

Necklace: Sole Society / Watch: Target / Chambray Buttondown: Old Navy, Plus /Sweater: H&M via Plato’s Closet / Pants: Old Navy, old / Boots: Sisters (local boutique)

After all the sequins and sparkles that come with the holiday season, I’m happy to be sharing an outfit today that falls into more neutral territory.

I’ve always been a sucker for cable-knit, and I love the camel color of this sweater.  It fits perfectly over my fave chambray, and I really like the way the textures of the sweater and tweed pants look against each other.

Naturally, I added some leopard accents to keep it interesting;)
