Dress: White Plum, also here / Clutch: Maurices, old love this / Heels: Charlotte Russe similar, strappy / Bracelet: Jamaican souvenir
This dress makes me want to go to Mexico and listen to a mariachi band while sipping margaritas! I’m pretty sure it was made to wear to a fiesta. The denim takes on such a fun and festive spin with the bright, multi-colored embroidery and cute cap sleeves.
It is also so comfortable! Even more so without the belt, which basically turns it into a really full short mumu! And it has pockets. I mean, enough said, right?
This dress is definitely going with me on my next beach vacation, but with neon yellow sandals rather than heels. Said vacation is about 3 1/2 months away, but it never hurts to start thinking ahead;)
Have a great Monday! If you need me, I’ll be daydreaming about white sand beaches and sombreros. Ole!

Last week, Tyson and I spent some time up north visiting my aunt and uncle. We had the BEST time! It was so great to just be able to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We laughed (and ate) so much!
On Thursday, we spent the afternoon in Chicago. It was pretty cool the whole time we were there, so I was glad I packed jeans. I even wore a black blazer all day. These flats from Sole Society were the perfect choice for walking around the city. A couple months ago, they were on sale, and I had them in my online cart for a few days. By the time I decided to buy them, my size was sold out, so when they came back in stock and went on sale again recently, I didn’t hesitate! I also ordered these, these, and this…Oops. They are nearly sold out again unless you wear a size 5, but I’ve linked some similar styles below.
After shopping, we enjoyed a very incredible dinner at Quartino. If you ever find yourself in the area with a yen for Italian food, you should definitely try it out!
After dinner, us girls went our own way, and the boys theirs to take in different shows. My aunt and I had tickets to see the Blue Man Group. It was super cool. I don’t even know how to explain it, but they are so funny and entertaining. No pictures were allowed during the show, but we were able to sneak this one in before it started;)
I have to say thanks to my aunt and uncle again for their hospitality and for absolutely spoiling us while we were there. It was truly one of the best getaways I’ve had in a long time!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I rounded up a few of my favorite looks. Click on your favorite pieces for details, and keep scrolling to read about the night I have planned, but be warned…You might be jealous;)
Unfortunately, my beloved will be away all next week and won’t be home until very, very late on Valentine’s Night, so I won’t be going out looking all red hot or getting dolled up for a romantic date. Actually, as of now, I’m planning on having a little “me” time and pampering myself with a nice bath, followed by a mani/pedi, and then cuddling up in my jammies with a good book until his return. I told you you’d be jealous. So it’s not really the Valentine’s Day I would have chosen, but to look on the bright side, absence makes the heart grown fonder;)
What are your plans for celebrating this crazy little thing called love? Will you be wearing anything similar to today’s favorites?

One of my favorite summer staples is the sundress. I’ve got several in my closet in all different colors, patterns, and lengths, and I will often reach for one of those on the weekend before a pair of shorts and a tanktop when the temperatures skyrocket.
Speaking of, I’m loving this “tropical” weather we’ve been experiencing with the hot, humid days and then the downpours to cool it off. Even though I’m not in the tropics, I wanted to give my dress an island vibe, and the colorful beaded necklace, and my recent Jamaican souvenir bracelets did just the trick:)
Fortunately, you don’t have to leave the country to find fun tropical pieces to accessorize with. Browse the gallery below for more colorful dress and jewelry options!

This is what I wore home from Jamaica. It’s a bit dressier than my departure outfit here, but these shoes were taking up the most room in my suitcase, and something had to give. Why does it always seem harder to fit it all in on the the way there than on the way home?
Anyway, I loved the way this blouse looked with my shorts (with little pink anchors…obsession) and knew I wanted to try a similar combination for work when I got home.
Necklace: Rue 21, this spring similar / Blouse: Goody’s / Cardigan (similar): Old Navy, this spring / Bracelets: Rue 21, last winter / Skirt: JCPenney, this spring / Peep-toe Wedges: K-Mart, last year
I definitely like the first outfit the best because I love the multi-colored beads and the wedges that give it a bit of a tropical vibe. Unfortunately, that just didn’t come through in my work version. The wedges looked a little awkward with my pencil skirt, so I compromised with the nude peep-toes. And without the wedge sandals, the beaded necklace just didn’t feel quite right, so I replaced it with the statement necklace.
In the end, I guess it worked, but I will definitely be making another attempt. Do you like either of these looks? If so, which one do you like best?

Uh oh, I might have added another statement necklace to my growing collection. Seriously, I’m out of control! I mean this is gorgeous, and I only paid $5 for it (score!), but I think I have a problem…
I also have a growing addiction to this lovely skirt. I want to wear it all the time, and since it’s navy, I can wear it with just about anything!

First off, HOORAY for sunshine! This was my church look yesterday. In my opinion, it doesn’t get any more feminine than pearls, pink, ruffles, and lace, and adding a thin leopard print belt, matching pointy-toe flats and my favorite bright pink wristlet added a bit of personality to this ladylike ensemble.
I know it’s hard to see in the pictures, but the top part of my dress is all lace, a big trend for spring/summer. I have a gorgeous lace dress that I got on major clearance last November at Sisters, and I can’t wait to wear it for just the perfect occasion this year. I told my mom it would be perfect to wear to the next royal wedding…I’m still waiting for my invitation;)
What do you think about wearing lace? Would you try any of these options?
