1dress3waysThere’s nothing I love more than coming up with multiple ways to wear my favorite items.  That’s why I thought it would be fun to share a post where I did just that-create a look for three different occasions with one dress.

Church  churchdress4bownecklaceThis first look I put together for church. I love the matchy-matchiness of the sparkly necklace with this dress. They really look like they were made for each other!  I decided to go all in with the blue accessories, from my sunglasses all the way down to my feet.churchdress2bluewedgeheelschurchdress1I’ve had these blue wedge sandals for years and don’t wear them a whole lot anymore, so I couldn’t resist the opportunity.blueshades

Workworkdress2workheelsFor my work look, I had to add a cardigan to adhere to our “no tanks allowed” dress code.  I chose to play up the blue in the dress again by covering up with this striped cardigan, and I also really like the way the patterns compliment each other. workdressaccessoriesworkdressI thought the blue sweater and blue heels might be a little over the top, so I switched it up with coordinating camel belt and heels instead.

Play  casualwithbluesandalscasualdressandturquoiseThis version is perfect for a day of shopping or a summer afternoon date.  I toned down the accessories with a simple turquoise and gold necklace and bracelet.  A small crossbody purse is always my top choice for an afternoon out or day on the go.coralcasualdresscasualdress2casualdressgoldpurse

I’ll let you in on a little secret…on a lot of Mondays, you will find me in the same outfit I wore to church the day prior.  It eases a little of the Monday stress if I have something ready that I already know works!

Care to share any of your 3-in-1 tips?  Which version of mine is your favorite?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

Monday Remix:Polka Dot Dress

reddressredblackpolkadotsredpolkadotdressrufflesandpolkadotsfloralheelsandpolkadotsDress: White Plum (no longer available) similar here (splurge) and here, Plus / Blouse: Maurices, old similar, similar / Necklace: Gift / Purse: hand-me-down similar, similar / Heels: Charlotte Russe / Watch: Target, similar / Ring: hand-me-down

This dress is definitely one of my closet favorites.  When I bought it, I really didn’t take the time to think about all the different ways I could wear it; I just knew I love dresses, I probably “needed” one with polka dots, and it was too good of a price to pass up!

Now I know that my favorite thing about this dress is its versatility.  From pairing it with summer sandals to wintery leather boots, it’s a staple for all seasons.

Playing up the deep V-neck with a black ruffly blouse, and adding floral Heels were a new fun idea-tested and approved!  As I’m typing this, I’ve even got a couple more ideas floating around for this dress…stay tuned for details;)

Spring Swing

floralandmustardstripedressfloralmustardandfloralstripeswirlfloralscarfScarf: Walmart, same pattern here!  / Cardigan: Old Navy / Mustard Sweater: Nordstrom Rack similar, similar / Belt: Target / Dress: Maurices / Tights: Walmart / Heels: Aldo very similar and flat option

Spring is officially in full swing!  Hallelujah!  While the temps aren’t quite where I’d like them to be yet (warm enough for bare legs!), the fact that, according to the calendar, winter is no mas just puts my brain in a happier place, and I’m so thankful I’ve been able to enjoy the warmth and sunshine the past couple weekends:)

Today’s look features one of my favorite things-print mixing!  Stripes are the easiest print to mix and match with.  Just keep your pieces in the same color families, and you’ve got an interesting new spin on your most basic pieces.

Today, I mixed stripes and florals, pulling them together with black, white, and mustard.  I’ll let you in on a little secret…This is actually a strapless dress, last seen here, hence the sweater layers;)

Check out the gallery below for more print mixing inspiration.  If you’re not a dress person, the same idea goes for striped tees or tanks, or you can swap the scarf for a pair of floral print heels, which are on my spring wish list.  I also came across several flat styles, and I’m pretty sure I need a pair of those as well!

Have a lovely Monday!

For the Love of Day Dresses

dressandcoatdressdress1dressandcoat3coatdressandcoat2leopardshoesCoat and Dress: White Plum, last fall / Clutch: Maurices, last summer / Heels: Old Navy, last fall similar, similar, similar
I snagged this fantastic day dress back in the fall for a heck of a deal from White Plum.  I was instantly attracted to the navy/orange color combo and interesting geometric print.  I was even more delighted with the real life version!
My favorite thing about this dress (and day dresses in general) is that it’s so easy to just put on and go.  As you can see, I left the accessories to a minimum with simple gold earrings and a gold bracelet.  The leopard shoes were just an extra twist of fun.  As a matter of fact, someone at work said, “I’m not being critical, but (not a good way to start a conversation…) what’s with the leopard shoes?”  I smiled and told her I just like them, and she said, “Oh, well, they’re cute.”  Umm, thanks?  LOL
Check out the gallery below for items similar to today’s style.  I love the floral dress in picture #5 and could picture wearing it right now with black tights and a bright purse.  Maybe even leopard shoes..;)  Which picks would you wear?

#TBT-Aztec Dress

Cardigan: Old Navy, old / Dress: from White Plum (no longer available), this summer, love this sweater dress option for fall or winter! / Heels: Old Navy (sold out online), this fall

How about a #tbt to Monday when it was like 80 degrees!  Perhaps we could rewind and hit repeat…not on the Monday part, though.  That wouldn’t be cool.  I took advantage of the heat and the opportunity to wear this aztec print dress.  I think the color, burnt sienna (I googled it, so what), keeps it seasonally appropriate, and the turquoise cardigan and leopard heels cover up enough but still keep it fun!

No doubt I can continue wearing this dress even after the temps drop for good with thick tights and knee-high boots.  The same can be said for all of the great aztec dress options below, all under $50!

I do believe this has been the prettiest fall southern Indiana has seen in a few years.  Seeing the trees turn slowly from green to vivid shades of orange, yellow, and red has been amazing.  I have reminded myself daily to pay attention and enjoy the beautiful transition.  Even on my 5-minute drive to work, there’s been one tree in particular that’s brought a smile to my face every time I’ve passed it:)

I have loved watching the colors so much that last week they inspired me to this preppy fall outfit.  Deep reds and oranges are certainly fall staples, and I’ve been waiting for just the right time to mix and match this plaid flannel and striped sweater!  Knee-high leather boots were the perfect finishing touch for a perfectly sunny and cool fall day.

Have you been as amazed by the beauty of this fall as much as I have?  It won’t last much longer, so don’t forget to take a little time to enjoy…Have a great week, and thanks for reading!

Stripes and Florals

Today’s outfit takes a casual striped polo up a notch by pairing it with a floral blazer and a lace-hem skirt, and I love the contrasting patterns that are pulled together by olive green and mint!  (See a similar outfit here)

A floral blazer is an also an easy way to dress up a solid colored tee with jeans or shorts and sandals, and I’ve got my eye on a few of the ones below…

Would you dress up your casual attire with a floral blazer?
