1dress3waysThere’s nothing I love more than coming up with multiple ways to wear my favorite items.  That’s why I thought it would be fun to share a post where I did just that-create a look for three different occasions with one dress.

Church  churchdress4bownecklaceThis first look I put together for church. I love the matchy-matchiness of the sparkly necklace with this dress. They really look like they were made for each other!  I decided to go all in with the blue accessories, from my sunglasses all the way down to my feet.churchdress2bluewedgeheelschurchdress1I’ve had these blue wedge sandals for years and don’t wear them a whole lot anymore, so I couldn’t resist the opportunity.blueshades

Dress: White Plum (sold out) / Necklace-similar colors here and here, Bracelets, & Shades-similar: Rue 21 / Heels & Watch: Target, old / Clutch: Maurices, old

Workworkdress2workheelsFor my work look, I had to add a cardigan to adhere to our “no tanks allowed” dress code.  I chose to play up the blue in the dress again by covering up with this striped cardigan, and I also really like the way the patterns compliment each other. workdressaccessoriesworkdressI thought the blue sweater and blue heels might be a little over the top, so I switched it up with coordinating camel belt and heels instead.

Play  casualwithbluesandalscasualdressandturquoiseThis version is perfect for a day of shopping or a summer afternoon date.  I toned down the accessories with a simple turquoise and gold necklace and bracelet.  A small crossbody purse is always my top choice for an afternoon out or day on the go.coralcasualdresscasualdress2casualdressgoldpurse

I’ll let you in on a little secret…on a lot of Mondays, you will find me in the same outfit I wore to church the day prior.  It eases a little of the Monday stress if I have something ready that I already know works!

Care to share any of your 3-in-1 tips?  Which version of mine is your favorite?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

Summer Shift

Hello, lovelies!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend and it was either spent in a pool or indoors with the air conditioning.  I’m not one to complain about the heat too much because you all know how much I despise cold weather, but dang, it was HOT!

This shift dress is a perfect beat-the-heat option and is definitely one of my favorites (I know, I say that about all my dresses), but the fact that it’s white and sleeveless make it an instant summer winner in my book.

Of course, the bright tribal pattern and crochet hem are what initially drew my attention to this dress.  I’m always drawn to those unique and eye-catching details that stand out on their own.  Other than a couple of bracelets and this fun bag I picked up in Chicago, no accessories needed!

What’s your go-to style for beating the summer heat?

A Day on the River

thunderoutfitblouseandkhakisstrawhatstripedblousewhiteplumblouseblouseandstrawhatkhakishortsblouseandkhakisanchoraccessoriesHat: DSW, last fall similar / Blouse: White Plum, last fall (I have this one and this one on my radar!) / Shorts: Old Navy, 2 years ago nearly exact, plus / Purse: Steve Madden via TJ Maxx, recent similar, similar / Sandals: Unionbay via Shoe Department, this Spring also in white

This is what I wore Saturday to spend the day riverside enjoying the Airshow and fireworks at Thunder Over Louisville.  The day could not have been more perfect!  It was actually hot, and I loved every second of it!

Shorts are not usually my first choice; I’m always more comfortable in a dress/skirt or capris, but I knew I wanted to be cool, and I wasn’t sure how windy it would be along the river, so I didn’t think a dress or skirt would be wise.  The hat was a wind precaution as well, but I didn’t end up needing it.

This was my first time to watch the fireworks up close and personal, and it was so amazing!  So beautiful and powerful!  The only downside of the day was we had to park about 1 1/2 miles from where we needed to be, and it had not occurred to me to pack some walking shoes.  My feet certainly paid the price!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did:)  Have a lovely Monday!

Turquoise and Coral

tealandcoraldresstealandcoraltealstripedressstripedressandleggingsDress: White Plum, last fall (no longer available) / Leggings: White Plum, this Spring (on sale now $6.99!) / Sandals: Maurices, 2 years ago similar / Purse: Steve Madden via TJ Maxx, recent similar, similar, tote

How much fun is this dress?  Turquoise and coral is always a win in my book, and when I saw this dress on clearance last fall, I couldn’t resist, even though I knew it would be several months before I could wear it.

In the meantime, I also stocked up on a few different colors of these cropped leggings since some of the dresses I’ve bought from White Plum are a little on the short side and require a little extra coverage.

I finally got to put the two together, and the result is a really simple but fun spring outfit that can be worn for work or play:)

Oh, did I mention how glad I am that it’s FRIDAY!?  Who’s going to Thunder Over Louisville tomorrow?  It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day, so even if you’re not making a trip to the river, I sure hope you get outdoors and enjoy it!Planning on any shopping? The Fashion Canvas

Headband: Wal-Mart, new / Sunglasses: Old Navy, last winter / Dress: Maurices, 2 years ago / Sandals: JCP, 3 years ago

You may have noticed I took a little break from blogging last week; last weekend was spent celebrating my daddy, then I helped with vacation bible school each evening, and my schedule was maxed out.  In the middle of all that was Tyson’s birthday, and he was out of town for a couple days last week, so we finally got to celebrate his birthday Saturday!

We started our outing with a little shopping at Old Navy where I picked up these and this.  Don’t worry, Tyson got a couple things too;)  Then, we headed over to downtown New Albany for a stroll.  Have you guys been down that direction lately?  There are so many neat restaurants/cafes and boutiques to check out!

One of our faves is Wick’s Pizza where we hung out for a little bit to cool off and have an appetizer.  Next, we hit up Puerto Vallarta, our very favorite Mexican restaurant in the whole world, for the main course.  We finished up with dessert at Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen.

This sundress was the perfect choice for our little afternoon getaway.  The loose and flowy material kept me cool and comfortable, and the polka dots and red trim felt feminine and romantic.  Gladiator sandals gave it some edge.  I love all these options too!

What’s your summer style for an afternoon getaway?  I’d love to hear about your favorite local spots!

Red and Yellow

Sweater, Dress, and Sandals: Old Navy, 2-3 years ago…I can’t really remember / Purse: last year similar, mini pouch, straw clutch (so cute!), similar

Do you ever have a piece of clothing in your closet that you keep coming across and think, “Hmm, I really like that.  I should wear it some time?”  For me, that item is this sweater, but every time I saw it, I seemed to be in a hurry and couldn’t take the time to really think it over.

I finally decided to actually pull it out of the closet and make an attempt at pairing it with something, and I had actually given up and set it aside when I pulled this dress (yes, another sundress) off the hanger.  The dress is pretty low-cut, and I obviously couldn’t wear it to work without something over it, and the sweater was still there where I threw it on the floor hung it back up ever so nicely:)

Next thing you know, I’ve got a red and yellow outfit, which I had been wanting to try anyway but didn’t think I had the pieces.  Add a belt (of course) as it was borderline muumuu territory, and I have a brand new outfit that that I’ve never worn before!

That is what makes fashion so much fun for me; being able to stretch my creative muscles to accomplish something that I actually enjoy and sharing my ideas and encouraging you, dear readers, to do the same:)  Have a great day, and, as always, thanks for reading!

Mix and Match today’s gallery for some red and yellow inspiration.  I’m loving the red shirt dress, anchor necklace, and red lace skirt!  Which ones are your faves?

Feeling Tropical

Sunglasses: Walmart, recent similar, similar / Earrings: Guatemalan Souvenir / Necklace, old / Bracelets: Jamaican souvenirs / Wristlet: Maurices, this spring / Dress (belt included): Maurices, 3 years ago / Sandals: Old Navy, 2 years ago similar, similar, similar t-strap

One of my favorite summer staples is the sundress.  I’ve got several in my closet in all different colors, patterns, and lengths, and I will often reach for one of those on the weekend before a pair of shorts and a tanktop when the temperatures skyrocket.

Speaking of, I’m loving this “tropical” weather we’ve been experiencing with the hot, humid days and then the downpours to cool it off.  Even though I’m not in the tropics, I wanted to give my dress an island vibe, and the colorful beaded necklace, and my recent Jamaican souvenir bracelets did just the trick:)

Fortunately, you don’t have to leave the country to find fun tropical pieces to accessorize with.  Browse the gallery below for more colorful dress and jewelry options!
