When I decided to purchase this skirt from White Plum, I envisioned wearing it with bright pink or my neon yellow heels, but it’s actually more green than yellow, and the pink just didn’t feel quite right.
I finally pulled this old neutral blouse out of the closet in a last ditch effort to make something work, and I was surprisingly pleased! I think it works because it allows the boldness of the skirt to speak for itself. The necklace was just a happy accident that brought it all together perfectly.
May I also add that this skirt style would look great on anyone! I love the definition of the high waistline coupled with the roominess below. Whether you go with a bold print or a solid color, the shape is definitely universally flattering, and I would like to add a few more to my collection, starting with the toucans below! Which one would you pick?

Hello, friends! I’m up north with my beloved visiting family this week. We’re driving into Chicago today for some shopping and yummy eats, and my aunt and I are also going to see the Blue Man Group! Have you ever seen a show? I hear they’re pretty entertaining, so I’m really looking forward to it.
I wanted to share a simple red, white, and (mostly) blue look in honor of upcoming Independence Day. This skirt is an old favorite of mine. I don’t have a big selection of red, but the subtle red and blue embroidery make it perfect for an understated 4th of July look.
We’ll be heading home on Saturday, so I hope to have some time to enjoy the pool, weather pending, and take in the local fireworks show. What will you be doing for the 4th? Whatever your plans, have fun, and be safe out there!
Check out some more of my favorite red, white, and blue picks below. I’m loving the High Waist Nautical Shorts and the Chambray Romper, perfect for the 4th and beyond!

I do believe this might be the prettiest skirt I’ve ever owned. A work of art really. I ordered this Electric Garden Party Skirt from White Plum a couple weeks ago and was beyond pleased when I took it out of the package. The quality of the material and vibrancy of the colors were even so much better in person than the way it appeared online.
The fit is also perfection with the defined waist and knee length flare. This skirt will definitely be a summer staple, and the array of colors makes for a multitude of opportunities to mix it up.
I feature a lot of items purchased from White Plum because I have fallen in love with their colorful and unique selections (they’ve even reposted a couple of my Instagram pics!). If you want to check them out, now is the perfect time! From now thru July 4, spend $40+ and get 50% off your entire order with code AMERICANBEAUTY, plus shipping is always free with any $50 purchase.

Hello lovely ladies! I know it’s been a while, but, you know, life happens. For those of you fabulous mommas out there, I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Okay, let’s get to today’s outfit. You gals know how much I love my accessories, and I’ve said time and time again that a statement necklace, a great pair of shoes, or even a belt can make a huge difference in the way you view your closet. This combination is certainly no exception.
I would have never thought to pair my lilac sweater with this skirt, but one random glance at the necklace, and my wheels were churning! Royal blue, lilac, and turquoise…The sweater and necklace together were a no-brainer, and after one sweep through my skirt collection, a light bulb went off!
My first thought for shoes were my royal blue suede peep-toes, but a little more digging had me pulling these wedge sandals out for the first time this year. A match made in heaven if I do say so myself:)
Enjoy your day girls, and happy creating!

I ordered this skirt back in the summer from White Plum and paired it with a plain white tee and graphic wedge sandals. I knew from the first time I wore it that all it needed to carry over into fall was a pair of black tights!
I love everything about this skirt: the full flare, turquoise polka dots, and pockets? Come on with it! I know those teensy skater skirts have been all the rage this year, but seriously, where am I going to wear such a thing?
This baby will easily transition right into winter by swapping out the booties for a pair of knee-high boots and adding a thicker sweater for extra warmth.
I put together a collection of adorable high-waisted, full skirts, from solid neons to graphic floral prints, that I would love to have hanging next to this one in my closet right about now. Are you loving these fuller options as much as I am?

Today’s outfit takes a casual striped polo up a notch by pairing it with a floral blazer and a lace-hem skirt, and I love the contrasting patterns that are pulled together by olive green and mint! (See a similar outfit here)
A floral blazer is an also an easy way to dress up a solid colored tee with jeans or shorts and sandals, and I’ve got my eye on a few of the ones below…
